new topics: holiday cards and nightviews

It's been a little while since new topics were added, so I put up two new ones today in response to user requests:

nightviews - views of places taken at night
holiday greetings - just in time for Christmas ;)

There have been a number of requests for a way to get a list of users on Walltype. For now, the best way to view users is to view the individual topics for the most recent postcard senders; however, there will be a better way soon.

more new topics: homemade, vintage, and more!

I added several more topics to the site, based on user suggestions:

send a homemade card
vintage postcards
art of all kinds
lighthouses
animals

Have one you'd like to see? Drop a line to walltype [at] gmail dot com.

new feature: user messaging

Now you can send an email to a Walltype user, in case you want to get in touch with whom you are sending a postcard - or thank the person who sent you one. The messaging link is located on the user's profile page.

new topics and more

In other news, a number of new topics were added to the site:

cities
bridges
famous paintings
maps
mail and mailboxes
my home town
UNESCO postcards
black and white
flowers
costumes

Check out the list of topics to view them in more detail.

And there is currently a charming little ad making its way on Facebook for this project:

rollback of 'request' feature

It turns out that the feature to make a specific postcard topic request slowed down activity on the site a great deal. Ugh!

The workflow on Walltype has been returned to what it was originally: list your favorite topics in your user profile, and you can send a postcard on any topic you like. Hopefully this will let site activity return to it's happier pace.

from the blogosphere

Walltype user David blogged about his postcard sharing experience - above are the postcards he sent and received. Very cool.

new feature: topic request

There is a new feature on Walltype: you can now specify the postcard topic you want to receive after you send a postcard to another user.

This feature is a big improvement to the workflow on the site. Users get to say exactly what kind of postcard they want to receive, and you are far more likely to receive one on the topic you want when it's your turn to make a request.

Feedback, as always, is welcome.
